Rooze Arafeh (Day of Arafah)

It was raining again today, after almost a week of no rain. So, of course, pretty chilly again today. However, today was eventful. It was the day of arafah, one of the prominent days in Islam, on which fasting holds great esteem as does the amaals after zuhr. We left class an hour early today in keeping with the prominence of the day. Khwabgah was bustly with everyone running about in order to take their ghusl (also one of the recommended things for today) and be ready to go to the haram at a quarter to one -our schedule for the day.

The rains always weirdly brighten everyone's mood. Was it the spirit of arafah, or the rains, or both?
The corridors were sprinkled with sisters praying namaz under the sky, under the rain. Praying under the sky, they say, makes prayers more acceptable. And then the bright chatter of iltemase dua (request for prayers) flying around can really help bonding, i've noticed. It just makes you feel like you're all different pieces of the same jigsaw puzzle. All of different colours, shapes and sizes, but when they come together, form a beautiful and complete picture.

The Haram of Hazret Masoomeh (a.s) was massively crowded, as expected. But we secured a good spot in the masjid. Dua e arafah was recited, as was ziyarat e imam Husain (a.s) and a few other things. When the amaals were done, we realized the rains had gotten mightier and also chillier. I'll have to do something about getting me warm clothes soon. It was then time for maghrib-isha prayers, after which the fasting ones, had their iftaar, and then we hurried back to our bus.

I treated myself to hot tea when we got back. Teaaaaa... I've started to love tea with a passion after coming to Iran. Guess, i'm getting a lil bit of Iran in me. ;-)

All in all, a day went spent, alhamdulillah.

Oh, and it was my mom's birthday on this day. Happy birthday mommy... Me loves u B-)
