The Norooz thing now.

Every year around Norooz (the Iranian new year) time, people, and I mean Muslims, start arguing about how Norooz is a pagan festival originated by pre Islamic fire worshippers. I mean, nobody's saying it's an Islamic holiday or an Islamic festival. But there's no need to be so bitter and grumpy. I mean, who stole your sunshine? It's the Iranian new year according to the Iranian calender. It's their festival. It's their new year. Let them celebrate it the way they like it. Islam is not against celebrating things, or choosing a specific day to cook good food, gathering around family and friends and remembering God. In that sense, the activities performed on that day become mustahab. And that's what so many Iranians did on norooz. They went to the Haram, recited du'a tawassol and other dua's, greeted one another and went home happily to a haft seen sofreh. So what is your problem? Nobody's celebrating it as an Islamic holiday, and if someone is, you go talk to them about the reason for their belief. Don't dump it on the Islamic Republic of Iran. I will NOT tolerate that. I'm sorry. The Leader of the Islamic Republic can choose any day in the Islamic calender, Iranian calender or European calender to go visit his Imam in Mashhad. And you will just have to deal with that. You need to wrap your head around the fact that if somebody holds their culture dear, (in the event that it is not at variance with Islam, which celebrating norooz isn't in any way) Islam doesn't have a problem with it. So you should ask yourself why you do. The reason is sadly only got to do with being racist and having got yourself so used to criticizing a people and a culture just cuz you think yours is so cultivated and polished. It stinks. And you should re evaluate your beliefs as a Muslim, a believer, and importantly, a Shi'a.
THANKYOU.
