“It’s not about it looking good, or about which one looks
better or how much damage it involves. It’s about taking a risk, doing something
new, being bold.” I argued with myself.
Turns out, change can be more threatening than anything you’ve
ever known. The comfort of routine is just that- comforting, reassuring. Even
though it may not be as interesting and exciting, you know it is stable,
lasting- like the sky overhead. You know it won’t betray you. The fear of the
unknown- which change entails- grips you.
So, it could just be the naturally lasting hair colour and
hair type that you’ve wanted to cling to, or it could be something bigger.
Change is always troubling. Attachment, more so.
Change is difficult, but isn't it just the essence of life? I think at some point routine becomes simply too monotonous, and trying out new things, going to new places and being with new people is a great way to grow!
ReplyDeleteThere's SO much variety in the world that change is inevitable at some point or the other.
And change isn't always sudden. There are cumulative effects that make you realize only after a long time how much you have 'changed' since a reference in the past.
Letting go of some-thing/one you've become attached to is REALLY difficult, but Paulo Coelho says:
'If you love someone, you must be prepared to let them fly'.
I guess that holds :)
Alishba, that is reassuring. And so lovely of you.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, if you love someone, you'd fly with them. Because, what the point of having love when even when you're flying, you're alone.
